WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

In 2011, CORUM reorganized the Admiral's Cup collection in three major segments:
Admiral's Cup Legend for "Heritage" section , Admiral's Cup Challenger for "Competition" section and Admiral's Cup Seafender for "Extreme" section.
For this purpose, the Admiral's Cup Chronograph 50 LHS  joined  the "Extreme" section and has been renamed Admiral's Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS.

DESCRIPTION

  • Admiral’s Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS

    Accuracy, manoeuvrability and readability

Clearly built with legibility in mind, the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS (LHS = Lefthandside) Chronograph is the ultimate short-time measuring instrument that stands out from the competition thanks to its broad dial enabling an instantaneous and comprehensive view of the displays. The specially designed left-hand chronograph push-button ensures superior precision, while the chronometer-certified movement plays an equally important role.

Immediately identifiable thanks to their 12-sided cases, the models in the Admiral’s Cup collection have consistently appealed to connoisseurs of fine watchmaking since its launch in 1960. Named after the legendary international regatta, it represents one of the brand’s four founding pillars, along with the Romvlvs, Golden Bridge and Artisans lines. It is now enriched with a chronograph version featuring a blend of technical sophistication and excellent readability.

    Excellent ergonomics and fast read-off

Its ability to provide a range of vital information at a glance is the strong point of the new Admiral’s Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS. The CORUM designers and master-watchmakers wanted to create the most efficient possible short-time measuring instrument. They achieved this by broadening the case size to a diameter of 50 mm. The space thus created enabled them to comfortably position the hour-markers, counters and other indications inseparable from the chronograph function. This conceptual choice also led to the elimination of the chronograph hour subdial. Since this complication is by definition focused on defining short times, the designers decided to concentrate on the minutes and seconds to ensure optimal legibility. The hour-markers and other indications are all governed by the same approach. An oversized “60” numeral tops the dial at 12 o’clock, providing eloquent proof that with the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS, time is evaluated first and foremost in minutes and seconds. Representing the signature features of the collection, the 12 nautical pennants highlighting the hours are transferred on the outer dial ring. Their monochrome appearance is in harmony with the aesthetic of the watch and their arrangement creates a perfect sense of equilibrium.

Guided by the same spirit of precision, the chronograph push-buttons are placed on the left-hand side of the case. Crafted in black PVD-treated titanium like the crown, their design is based on an in-depth analysis of their function. The start/stop pusher is particularly carefully shaped: more prominent than its counterpart, its morphology guarantees a quick and easy grip that in turn enhances the accuracy of the timing.

Resolutely dark-clad with alternating black and dark grey shades, the Admiral’s Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS boldly asserts its decidedly sporting nature. The anthracite colour of the case stems from the grade 5 titanium from which it is crafted. While notoriously hard to machine, titanium is a technical metal known for its lightness and resistance. This choice is coupled with the extreme attention devoted to the ergonomics of the watch, including the use of a new vulcanised rubber specifically developed for the strap. This extremely supple wristband makes a perfect fit on all wrists and features a moulded CORUM logo. The water resistance of this chronograph is guaranteed to 300 metres.

    Racing mechanics

The chronograph is a refined and technically demanding complication. The Admiral’s Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS houses the CO 753 Calibre, a mechanical self-winding chronograph chronometer-certified by the COSC, a sure token of precision and reliability. Endowed with a 42-hour power reserve and beating at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it features hour, minute, small seconds and date functions in addition to the chronograph function. Its meticulous finishing as well as an oscillating weight engraved with the CORUM name meet the highest fine watchmaking standards.

The exclusive Admiral’s Cup Seafender 50 Chrono LHS is issued in a limited, numbered edition of 888.
