A new khaki green color for the white-gold “Jumbo” model

The very embodiment of modern sporty chic, the men’s Aquanaut – introduced in 1997 – launched its young, dynamic style in steel or rosegold versions on a composite strap. In 2017, for the 20th anniversary of this highly successful collection Patek Philippe broke new ground by presenting the first version in white gold. With its 42.2 mm, this model with a midnight-blue dial and strap also claimed the title of largest Aquanaut.

Patek Philippe has now treated this white-gold “Jumbo” Aquanaut to a new version with a color scheme in khaki green. This audacious choice of shade confers a sense of adventure, far horizons and exploits – but with the touch of class and refinement that distinguishes Patek Philippe’s sports watches. The dial’s finely embossed checkerboard pattern provides a distinctive backdrop for the applied Arabic numerals, applied five-minute markers and baton-style hour and minute hands, all in white-gold with a luminescent coating. A sweep seconds hand and a date aperture at 3 o’clock complete the time indications.

The sapphire-crystal case back reveals the precise and elegant self-winding manufacture movement that choreographs the ballet of time. With a height of just 3.3 mm, this movement is so thin that even the finished watch has the finesse for which Patek Philippe timepieces are known – and that despite a guaranteed water resistance to 120 m worthy of a dedicated performance model.

The rounded octagonal case is enhanced by a polished finish on the flat and a satin finish on the caseband, while the bezel alternates between vertically satin-finished flats and polished flanks.

The water-resistant strap contributes the benefits of its composite material: it is ultra-resistant to traction, wear, salt water and ultraviolet radiation. It also features the new patented Aquanaut fold-over clasp, whose four independent catches optimize the security of the opening and closing action.

The new Ref. 5168G-010 in khaki green joins the existing model with a blue dial and strap.
