THE WATCHES PRESENTED ON THE VIDEO
OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 11 35th anniversary (found on Chronext)
There is no need to remind you that the Speedmaster Cronograph is Omega’s absolute icon, which is no surprise since that’s what the first men to walk the moon were wearing during the Apollo mission 11 in 1969 (hence the acronym “Moonwatch”).
In 2004, for the 35th anniversary of this planetary event, the manufacture launched a very special edition, with 3,500 pieces. Its white panda dial with black counters is the most distinctive feature, and at 12 o’clock the date “July 20, 1969” is printed in red. Bearing a hesalite acrylic glass, the watch holds a screw-down sapphire back on which the Apollo 11 coloured patch is reverse-printed.
A decoration also found on the piece that Chronext kindly let Frank Sans C borrow for his video. At the heart of the timepiece, the calibre Omega 1861 manual winding calibre is the evolution of the calibre 861 used on the chronographs of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.
The Speedmaster Apollo 11 35th anniversary is extremely popular.
Just to give you an idea of this vintage watch’s worth, rare in the market: it was auctioned at 8,125 CHF, i.e. 7,500 euros by Antiquorum at Geneva on March 2020 (Valued at 7,000/12,000 CHF).

ROLEX Milgauss: Eric Clapton’s watch
On 1956, the Rolex manufacture launched the Oyster Perpetual Milgauss. It can withstand magnetic fields of up to 1000 gauss (hence the name). It was tested and approved by the scientists of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), located in Geneva.
In order to resists magnetic interference, Rolex conceived a shield composed of two different ferromagnetic alloys that surrounds and protects the movement.
Rolex watchmakers are the only ones who own the specific tool needed to open the oyster screw-down case back and they have the secret for this kind of intern capsule engraved with the magnetic field symbol: a “B” with an arrow above it.
Other distinctive signs of the Milgauss (€ 7,850), and visible ones: its emblematic seconds hand shaped like a lightning bolt and its green sapphire exclusive glass which is the result of a secret process kept by the engineers of the Maison.
With a black or electric blue dial, these models are Superlative Chronometer certified (COSC + Rolex tests). This title ensures outstanding performances with precision of -/+ seconds a day.

DUKE ELLINGTON WATCH
CARTIER Tank à Guichet (Cartier Collection privée)
This Cartier Paris Tank à guichet dates from 1928. Frank Sans C borrowed it, for his video with Matt, from the Cartier Collection Privée that owns several iconic objects of the Maison. It is not quite the same as the one of Duke Ellington (as said on the video) but it is in the same vein and comes from the same period. Gold case and leather strap, it shows time thanks to an aperture for the jumping hour and another one for the slowly moving minutes. A real masterpiece…
Movement calibre 126 LeCoultre, jumping hours and slowly moving minutes, false decoration Côtes de Genève, rhodium, 8 adjustments, 18 jewels, lever escapement, bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring.
Sold to Sir Bhupindra Singh, Maharaja of Patiala
ELTON JOHN WATCH
CARTIER Santos automatic movement, yellow gold
The Santos watch from Cartier is an icon. It is not the first time that we talk about this watch on this website or that we present it on Frank Sans C channel. It is certainly not the last time, since it has so many variations. Gold is omnipresent on this timepiece (beautifully pictured for Mywatchsite by the talented Eric Sauvage – see the full series – ). The watch seems heavy but it is surprisingly confortable to wear. The interchangeable bracelets allow us to change our outfit without changing our style thanks to the gorgeous leather bracelet. It also makes it lighter.
THE ELVIS PRESLEY’S WATCH
HAMILTON VENTURA QUARTZ
Inspired by the craze for rock’n’roll during the 50s, the designer Richard Arbib created in 1957 a watch with a futuristic triangular case, which was unconventional for that time. Being a little revolution in the watchmaking world, the Ventura of Hamilton is battery-powered. Over the decades, this first electrical watch became an icon from the Maison. And for good reason: in 1961 Elvis Presley the king of Rock’n’roll wore the timepiece in the movie “Blue Hawaii”, unforgettable… it quickly became the essential accessory for every true rocker… And it is funny to know that it’s Matt from Matt’s Guitar Shop who sold this guitar to a collector!
The production stopped seven years after the first release and came back again in the late 80s, and never stopped since. Today, it comes back on big screen with the new Men In Black released this summer. The MIB team is now ready to exterminate the vermin of the universe: black suit, black glasses, neuralyser, stainless steel ventura with black dial and black leather strap.
But before becoming a key accessory for men in black (or women, agent M is the new recruit), the Ventura was the favourite watch of king of rock’n’roll Elvis Presley.

HAMILTON VENTURA ELVIS80 SKELETON
It’s a yes from me! I loved Frank Sans C new look and I hope he’ll keep the wig during our editorial boards. All joking aside, what a great introduction of the new Ventura Elvis80 Skeleton!
Released in 2005, to honour what would’ve been Elvis Presley’s 80th birthday, the eponymous collection has now two new stainless steel models with black or pink gold PVD coating.
Entirely skeletonized, the dial provides a breath-taking view of the gears of the automatic – non-electric this time – movement calibre, decorated with “Côtes de Genève” stripes. The timepiece also displays a zigzag (red for the black version and pink gold for other version) recalling an electrical impulse – Rock’n’roll never dies! Delivered with a black rubber strap, they can’t transform you into a rock star, but even when they are stopped, they are “right twice a day”!

JOHN MAYER WATCHES
CASIO G-SHOCK Ref. 6900 by John Mayer
Winner of seven Grammy awards, John Mayer is known for being one of the greatest Fender Stratocaster guitarists (Jimmy Hendrix’s and Eric Clapton’s favourite, to name but two). What is not so well known is that the songwriter-producer is also fond of watches.
He even has one with his name: the Casio G-SHOCK 6900 by John Mayer. And it is not a guitar that inspired the artist but his old sampler keyboard Casiotone SK-5, and its grey, yellow, turquoise colours can be found on the watch.
The G-SHOCK 6900 is the ultra-resistant multifunction Casio watch. The John Mayer version is a limited one – non numbered – in collaboration with Hodinkee.

PATEK PHILIPPE Aquanaut
The Patek Phillipe Aquanaut (1997) takes its inspiration from the rounded octagon signature of the emblematic Nautilus (1976). Featuring a bezel with very soften edges, it also bears a composite black strap and an embossed dial.
Water-resistant up to 120m deep (men’s collection) and featuring luminous characteristics, this watch is without contest a right balance between modernity, sportsmanship and elegancy.
Let’s not forget the presence of Patek Phillipe automatic or quartz movement (several feminine pieces) with irreproachable quality and finish. It naturally comes as no surprise that the Aquanut is a success even 25 years after its first release.
Seen on the video, the automatic Aquanaut Watch 5167A-001 – three-hand/date – dresses in black.
The watch holds a stainless steel case with 8,1 mm height: a beautiful height for a sporty timepiece. On the caseback, the sapphire crystal allows us to see the calibre 324 SC automatic, a movement with oscillating weight made with 21-carat yellow gold and decorated with “Côtes de Geneve” stripes.
Something to know about Aquanaut: its strap is made with the same high-tech composite than the ones of the fighter pilot’s masks. It is an ultra-resistant material that can resist wearing, twists, pull, salt water and ultraviolet radiation.

PATEK PHILIPPE Aquanaut Luce Travel Time
Ladies, there were a lot of timepieces for men presented on this article but the Patek Phillipe Aquanaut Luce Travel Time managed to make its way through. And it is quite the watch! This jewellery 38,8 mm diameter edition in pink gold catches the eye with a bezel lit up by 48 diamonds. Elegant but also sports-chic, thanks to its matte white and embossed strap with the Aquanaut pattern, in a composite material.
Powered by a quartz movement with two time zones, this travel watch displays two sweep hour hands, one pierced for home time, the other solid for local time.
