Bvlgari wins the “Aiguille d’Or” prize
The Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) jury has announced the winners during a festive awards ceremony at the Théâtre du Léman. Headed by author and historian Nick Foulkes, the jury handed out 19 prizes, including the top award “Aiguille d’Or”, which was awarded to Bvlgari for the Octo Finisssimo watch.
The top award of the GPHG 2021 (the “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix) was won by Bvlgari for its Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar. Slim watch lovers already know this model since it is the slimmest self-winding perpetual calendar in the world (5.80mm of thickness for the case and 2,75 for the calibre).
Let’s not forget, of course, the other winners of this 2021 Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève edition. The GPHG was also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the ceremony.
Maison Piaget won two awards (Ladies’ Watch Prize and Mechanical Exception Watch Prize), which was also the case for Louis Vuitton (Diver’s Watch Prize and Audacity Prize) and MB&F (Men’s Complication Watch Prize and Artistic Crafts Watch Prize). The Iconic Watch Prize was then awarded to Audemars Piguet for the Royal Oak. While the valued “Petite Aiguille” Prize was won by the manufacture Tudor for the Black Bay Ceramic that holds a Master Chronometer certification.
The GPHG 2021 winner watches will be presented in Paris early December.
GPHG also rewards a personality or influential institution on the watchmaking scene with the Special Jury Prize, which was won this year by the Dubai Watch Week.
Last but not least: the GPHG 2021 winner watches, but also the twenty “Aiguille d’Or” Prize winners from 2001 to 2020, are on display at the Musée Rath in Geneva until November 14, 2021. After that, the 2021 award-winning watches will be exhibited during the Dubai Watch Week, from November 24 to 28, and then in Paris from December 2 to 5.
