Spotlight on the Tambour Horizon Light Up by Louis Vuitton
Displaying a great design and being ultra-customizable, the third generation connected watch signed by Louis Vuitton is a very chic high-tech object. With many luminous features, it will seduce geeks, globe-trotters and fashion addicts.
There’s no beating around the bush: the new Tambour Horizon Light Up is a real aesthetic success. And its 44 mm case fits any wrist perfectly, whatever your size, thanks to a very fluid geometry. Louis Vuitton has thoroughly reworked its connected watch to create this third generation. The new watch features a convex case profile… like the original Tambour watch.
The round shape of the case bears soft lines that are accentuated by an original element. The sapphire glass protects the touch screen with a curved edge that merges with the case. Therefore, there is no bezel here. Instead, 24 LED lights animate the Monogram ring. Those symbols light up whenever the watch is activated and create a mesmerising animation of coloured lights. It’s magic!
But there’s another change on the outside: two rather discreet push buttons adorn the instrument. Besides the crown, those push buttons allow the owner to access the menus and control the many functions.
Tambour Horizon Light Up, the way to endless customisation possibilities
Customisation is, without a doubt, the watchword given to the designers for the creation of this new connected timepiece. The watch is available with eight display themes and they can each be set to eleven bold new gradients. In other words, it is a rainbow of colours. On the screen, the owner will find an exclusive animation inspired by the patterns and symbols of the brand’s legendary bags. Built-in watchfaces display a second time zone and Louis Vuitton mascot Vivienne appears on the dial. Last but not least, the owner can display their initials in the colour and typography of their choice.
Loyal to Louis Vuitton signature codes, the thematic offer will get more versions throughout the year. Indeed, the creative ideas are endless: collaborations, creations inspired by fashion shows, seasons, Christmas, the Lunar New year, Valentine’s Day…you name it.
Polished steel version (from € 2,870), black or brown PVD steel (from € 3,450) … it’s up to you to choose your favourite Tambour Horizon Light Up. You should also know that the customisation of this instrument is more than just digital. As a matter of fact, the brand has doubled the possibilities by equipping the watch with a patented interchangeable strap system. An additional strap in Monogram Eclipse canvas is worth € 320, for example.
An aesthetic and technological feat for Louis Vuitton
Additionally, the operating system is exclusive. The luxury brand wished to develop its own system to provide the most intuitive experience. Equipped with a Snapdragon Wear 4100 micro-processor, the watch is compatible with iOs, Android and Harmony (Huawei). Actually, this operating system is the first, aside Apple ecosystem, to be certified “MFI” (made for iPhone).
On top of the functions that all smartwatches carry nowadays, the Tambour Horizon Light Up also includes all of the Louis Vuitton apps. Which means that the owner will benefit from the My Travel app (travel planning, 30 Louis Vuitton City Guides) and the My Day app (heart rate, calendar, steps, weather, and even an air quality index). The watch also includes a new Louis Vuitton Connectivity status. It allows interaction with all Louis Vuitton connected objects (speaker, Bluetooth headphones…).
Last major strength of the Tambour Horizon Light Up is its durability. Indeed, the brand announced that the vast majority of its components – 80 to 90% – are repairable. The watch has also been designed to last until 2030, maybe even 2035… it seems like the days of programmed obsolescence are numbered!
