Restrepo: when the round becomes oval
A newcomer to the watchmaking scene, Restrepo has already made a good impression, particularly on Frank sans C in one of his latest videos. Combining watchmaking and design, the models overflow with the creativity of its whimsical and exalted founder, Federico Restrepo.
Restrepo, a young brand in the watchmaking landscape
This name is not unfamiliar to you and for good reason! Last December, the video « watches to put under the tree » by Frank sans C revealed these watches with a rather atypical design.
Founded by Federico Restrepo, the eponymous brand is the perfect illustration of the creative world in which this self-declared troublemaker of Colombian evolves. Perfume bottles, writing accessories, cosmetic boxes, he has designed many flagship products in jewelry, beauty and luxury. Without limits, this passionate artist of watches launches himself without compromise in a new watchmaking adventure. An adventure that doesn’t go round…
The oval at the heart of Restrepo designs
A signature of Restrepo watches, the oval shape is the starting point for this highly original collection.
Indeed, the creator was inspired by the elliptical movement of the planets orbiting the Sun to shape his cases. On our side, the resemblance with a planisphere is obvious. Actually, it is a choice to ensure optimal readability of the information on the dial. Federico tells us about his vision of time with three collections that are out of the ordinary.
One dial, many possibilities
The El Cabellero sin armas squadron comes in a chronograph version.
Available in 316L steel, ocean blue PVD, and 18K gold plating, these three editions feature a tri-compax dial with two contrasting chrono counters respectively in blue, grey and black, and a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock. The automatic Valjoux 7750 movement of fine Swiss manufacture animates this trio served on a Fluorubber rubber strap.
Price: €2,950 – gold plated version: €3,250.
The GMT function is part of it! They feature a case crafted in 316L steel and black PVD with a screwed caseback and water-resistant to 50m. It’s up to you whether you’re a night or day bird.
Price: €1,500
Hasta la Victoria proclaims its freedom with flashy colors. The first version has a black dial with a tonic red strap. While the second one has a vitamin yellow dial with multicolored counters that blends perfectly with the turquoise blue rubber strap. What to bring a big dose of good humor… every hour.
