The Chronomètre Souverain F.P.Journe is the ‘Best Men’s Watch 2012’

The Chronomètre Souverain has been awarded “Best Men’s Watch 2012” by the European Watch of the Year Award 2012. F.P. Journe triumphed for the integrity and beauty of this timepiece. Over 100 representatives of all major watch brands met at the London May Fair Hotel to attend the first award giving ceremony of the European Watch of the Year gala.
F.P.Journe, with its distinctive label – Invenit et Fecit, (invented and made) engraved on all watches of the collection certify an exclusive 18K rose Gold calibre, invented, manufactured and assembled entirely in the workshops of the Geneva Manufacture. It vouches an authentic and innovative horology in the whole of its conception and symbolises the fundamental values of haute horlogerie.
F.P.Journe is mastering the measurement of time with the Chronomètre Souverain, inspired by early 19th-century marine chronometry, which includes a twin-barrel movement in the classic configuration of precision watches. They work in parallel to deliver stable power for most of their 50-hour indicated reserve that counts hours used rather than remaining. The manually wound mechanical movement beating at 21,600v/h shows why the simplest mechanisms are often the most attractive. The connecting train has been placed under the dial, leaving only the centre wheel to emphasise the isolation of the balance.
William Asprey, exclusive retailer for F.P.Journe in England, went upstage to collect the prize and declared for F.P.Journe:
“We are proud to be once again awarded for the Chronomètre Souverain. Usually known for his innovative complications and numerous distinctions, F.P.Journe is happy that the Jury understood that to make a simple but perfect watch was not an easy task. He has succeeded an antithesis of complicated watch making with this precision chronometer. Thank you.”
