For the second time after last year’s prize won by the Première Tourbillon Volant

The new jewelry watch collection, entitled “Mademoiselle Privé”, opens the door to the intimate world of Gabrielle Chanel, and showcases her most cherished symbols and objects she loved to have around her.
In the hands of the finest master artisans – enamellers, engravers, carvers and stone-setters – this new collection adds yet another chapter to CHANEL’s creative saga, and uncovers new grounds for expressing unsurpassed skill and know-how of the Métier d’Art craftsmanship used in Fine Watchmaking and High Jewelry.
Since 1924, the House of Lesage has been producing highly elaborated embroidery for the major names in Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear, requiring long hours of work and a unique “savoir-faire”. For the first time, the expertise of Lesage has been applied towards the creation of a watch dial. Each embroidery created is one of a kind, expressing the gestures of the embroiderer throughout her meticulous process; such is this camellia, Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite flower, elaborated with colored silk threads using the “needle painting” technique.
The Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG) is intended to salute the excellence of worldwide horological production, and annually rewards the finest creations and the most important operators in the watchmaking sector. The GPHG prizegiving ceremony, which is traditionally held each November at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, draws elite representatives of the international watchmaking profession.
The watches pre-selected for the GPHG, as well as the winners, take part in a travelling exhibition held in Beijing, Macau, Dubai, Geneva and Singapore, which enables an international audience to discover and admire the finest timepieces of the year, exceptionally united on this occasion during the months of October and November.
The House of CHANEL is honored by this prize, which salutes the collaboration between the exceptional “savoir-faire” that have always been at the heart of its creative process.
