“Tribute to Fifty Fathoms” Exhibition
Blancpain is delighted to be inaugurating, within its Boutique on the Place Vendôme, Paris, an incredible exhibition dedicated to one of its emblematic models, the Fifty Fathoms. Assembled thanks to the generosity of numerous collectors from around the world, this line-up features an impressive array of the various Fifty Fathoms created by Blancpain from 1953 to the present day. It can be viewed on Place Vendôme in Paris until November 2010, before travelling to China and the United States.
This exhibition composed of more than 60 models retraces the history of the Fifty Fathoms, from its creation in 1953 at the request of the French Navy combat divers unit, through to this year’s launch of the Flyback Chronograph with Complete Calendar. Visitors will thus be able to journey through time by following the evolution of this iconic watch and discovering some extraordinary anecdotes relating to it.
This world-exclusive stellar commemoration is part of a programme of events organised by Blancpain to celebrate its 275th anniversary and to mark the opening last spring of its new Parisian boutique. A genuine Embassy of the Manufacture from Le Brassus located on one of the world’s most prestigious squares, this boutique presents Blancpain’s finest creations in a setting pervaded by the brand heritage and know-how. This area is designed to take each visitor on a journey to the heart of fine watchmaking as embodied by Blancpain. The exhibition dedicated to the Fifty Fathoms could thus not have dreamt of a finer showcase in which to reveal its splendours.
Blancpain also wishes to thank the many collectors from around the world who have responded to its call. Their generosity and their passion for horology have enabled it to pay this vibrant tribute to the destiny of the Fifty Fathoms, the first modern diver’s watch in horological history.
