Swatch celebrates the Year of the Dragon
By MyWatch
Coming up soon (starting January 23rd, 2012) is the Year of the Dragon, one of the most lively and colourful signs of the Chinese animal zodiac, and is the key symbol of Chinese Spirit. According to popular tradition, persons born in the Year of the Dragon—2012, 2000, 1988 or 1976, for example—are likely to be bold, imaginative and passionate. The Dragon is said to bring good fortune, as well, to all born under its sign.
The 15-day New Year’s celebrations will see a wide variety of festive activities ranging from parades, fireworks and traditional family get-togethers to the always colourful Lantern Festival, with its spectacular arrays of auspicious red lanterns.
Famous for its spirited designs and delightful colours, Swatch has chosen to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a special Gent. The Year of the Dragon (GZ268) features an intricate and graceful Chinese dragon, drawn in blue on the white ground of the silicone strap, taking inspiration from classic Chinese-style blue and white porcelain. The dial complements the dragon with a delicate ornamental blue grid drawn on a white background. A blue dragon appears on the special packaging, too, ready to bring good fortune to everyone in the year ahead.
