A Scent of Christmas…
Beyond our own smell, perfume often characterizes and resembles us. A puzzling matter for some but mainly an obvious choice. My definition of a great perfume is one that we cannot smell on ourselves, but which nuances are noticed by others. For those faithful to one familiar and soothing fragrance or for the enthusiasts of novelties just arrived in boutiques, here is a masculine (or unisex) selection to put under the Christmas tree!
The icon: Pasha de Cartier
At first a world-renowned watch of the eighties, Pasha de Cartier becomes a perfume in 1992. Reinterpreted many times, this scent is emblematic of the house. Its name originates from the high-ranking Turkish men, well-off and powerful. Powerful, as its sillage. An intense and deep signature owed to the warmth of the sandalwood. A unique steady amber trail allows for a balanced whole wrapped around a heady fougère accord.
Perfume – €121 for 100 ml

The sensual: Dior Homme by Dior
Troubling by its strength and alluring by its luminousness, the new Dior Homme resembles its ambassador Robert Pattinson. I’m not alone in thinking that the actor embodies perfectly this fragrance with a heart of tender woods. The virility of the Atlas Cedar embraces the warmth of Haitian Vetiver tinged with spice and the smoothness of the patchouli. A soft and sensual caress served in a design sculpted block of glass.
Eau de toilette – €90 for 100 ml
The hypnotic: Météore by Louis Vuitton
In the wake of Immensité, Nouveau Monde, Orage, Sur la Route and Au Hasard, the master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud unveils its sixth creation: Météore. Dedicated to boundless men, this new scent is at the heart of the perfume designer’s research on freshness. Vivifying at the first breath, this scent magnetizes with spicy Silician mandarin notes that intensely blends in the perfume’s heart. Underlined by a trio of black, Reunion and Szechuan rose peppers, Météore softens through the wear to only keep the ambery reminder of Java vetiver. Boyfriend’s favourite, who embraced it last autumn.
Eau de Parfum Météore – €225 for 100 ml
Refill in store – €140 for 100 ml
The sexy: le Mâle by Jean-Paul Gaultier
We love to be taken in by le Mâle, emblem of the Jean-Paul Gaultier house. In its iconic bottle, this virile and sexy sailor flaunts a fragrant sillage both powerful and tender. This ambivalence, dear to the eccentric creator, is shown through the freshness of mint, the comforting scent of lavender and the sensuality of vanilla. Under a dome like a snow globe, Le Mâle has donned his Christmas sailor’s sweater, for a beautiful red and white collector edition of the gift-giving season.
Eau de toilette – €103.82 for 125 ml
The hypnotic: Patchouli Ardent by Guerlain
With Patchouli Ardent, Guerlain’s perfumer Thierry Wasser signs a scent which invites to a true sensorial and exotic voyage, like his Absolus d’Orient Collection. Put in the limelight, the woody patchouli harmoniously combines with the lightness of rose and the strong accords of leather and musks. In a majestic midnight blue bottle, with golden stopper and accents, worthy of the One thousand and one nights.
Eau de parfum – €155 for 125 ml

The unforgettable: Bois d’Argent by Dior
Bois d’Argent by Dior… is truly Proust’s madeleine. I fell in love with this fragrance right when it was released, and never fell out of it. Iconic, this unisex fragrance created by François Demachy combines masculine Iris with feminine incense. A powerful yet light fragrance that I find unforgettable…Bois d’Argent Fragrance – €198 for 125 ml
