PARIS EDITION

Darling Defy

On the evening of 26 June, many journalists and Zenith’s privileged guests were invited on the roofs of the Klimpton St Honoré Hotel, at the Sequoia Rooftop Bar to discover alongside the Maison’s CEO, Benoît De Clerck, the new Defy Skyline Edition Paris, a France exclusive model.

Accompanied as well by the patisserie chef Jeffrey Cagnes, the star chef Matthieu Dupuis Baumal and the French skier Richard Permin, Zenith revealed in exclusivity a special edition limited to 50 pieces from its now iconic collection: the Defy Skyline.

The Defy Skyline Paris Edition, an architectural design

As only a few days separate us from the Olympic Games, those new pieces dedicated to the City of Lights comes right in time. Inspired by a piece from 1969, the 41 mm steel watch sports the characteristic Defy’s case. Its architectural lines and its geometric facets ornate a dodecagonal bezel that enhance a dial deserving all the attention.

A brand-new dial

The dial bears a Verdigris colour echoing the zinc hues that dress the capital. The emblematic and historic buildings, the roofs, the bridges or the Art Nouveau underground station entrances, all wear the colours of this material that patinates with time. The comparison is accentuated by the gradient effect, going from the lightest green at the centre, to a darker green, and at the rim, black. A finish that recalls the process used in the 1970s on the first Zenith’s Defy wristwatches.

The Verdigris dial displays a geometric motif recalling a sky dotted with stars.

On this water-resistant up to 100 meters reference, the finish enhances the motif dotted with a myriad of stars, the manufacture’s emblem, shaping thus a striking geometric pattern. The dial is also punctuated by a date aperture at 3 o’clock, hands and rhodium-platted indexes, all faceted and coated with luminescent matter.

At the heart of the Defy Skyline Edition Paris

Through a crystal case back, the oscillating weight displays a five-branch star motif, Zenith’s emblem.

Fitted on an interchangeable built-in bracelet, in steel and in textured black rubber, the watch beats at the rhythm of the famous high-frequency El Primero 3260 calibre. The model indicates the 1/10th of a second in a counter at 9 o’clock. It offers approximately 60 hours of power reserve. At the back, a crystal sapphire back unveils the calibre’s cogs and the sublime star-shaped oscillating weight. Furthermore, it is engraved with the mention “Edition Paris” and the piece’s number.
