Girard-Perregaux 1966 Chronograph Doctor’s Watch Limited-Edition Series for Dubail.
By MyWatch
In 1880 Constant Girard-Perregaux introduced chronographs with a flyback hand and a jumping seconds hand that in their day were among the most accurate mechanisms for measuring short time in existence.
The Manufacture launched its first “Doctor’s Watch” collection in the 1930s. This type of watch was worn by physicians so that they could take their patients’ pulses. The chronograph hand is linked to a pulsimetric scale which can indicate the heart rate on the dial after only thirty beats of the pulse.
The Girard-Perregaux Limited Edition for Dubail is a re-edition of a model with a pulsimetric scale dating back to the 1960s. It is a refined example of traditional watchmaking, integrating this function in the form of graduations for thirty pulse-beats indicated on the outer limit of the dial. The sweep seconds hand, resplendent in red, the characteristic signature color of Dubail limited editions, marks the rhythm of the seconds at the heart of the dial. The leaf-shaped hour and minute hands point to Arabic numerals. In order to perfect this watch’s timeless design, Girard-Perregaux has chosen a traditional chronograph with a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock and a small seconds counter at 3 o’clock. Crafted in a spirit of subtle refinement, the dial also offers perfect legibility of the time indications.
This Dubail Limited Edition of the Girard-Perregaux “Doctor’s Watch” consists of just ten pieces in pink gold and ten in white gold, and will be sold exclusively at the Dubail boutique on the Place Vendôme in Paris.
