Première Sound, one of the icons
Designed by Arnaud Chastaingt, director of Studio de Création Horlogerie of Chanel, the Première Sound is a reinterpretation of the Première Édition Originale presented in 2023 with Lily-Rose Depp as ambassador.
The watch was directly inspired by the 1987 timepiece created by Jacques Helleu, who designed it exclusively for women, causing a wave of surprise in a world then governed by the codes of men’s watchmaking. Today, the Première Sound, water-resistant to 30 metres and with a quartz movement, has a highly modern face, combining a watch, a necklace and wired headphones.
All the hallmarks of the luxury house are present. Made from steel coated with 18-carat yellow gold, the octagonal shape of the case echoes that of the N°5 bottle stopper and the Place Vendôme. Place Vendôme was dear to Gabrielle Chanel, who had a view of her boutique from the window of her room at the Ritz. What’s more, the case houses a refined black lacquered dial with only fine gold hands. It also has a yellow gold-coated steel crown topped with an onyx cabochon. The sautoir, meanwhile, is a reference to the gold chain strap of Chanel’s timeless quilted bag, with its intertwined gold links and black leather ribbon.
Sophisticated audio technology
The system comes with a black audio cable that terminates in a jack plug. Première Sound comes with Lightning and USB-C adapters compatible with all the latest generation smartphones. The double C earphones are equipped with a microphone, so you can receive phone calls. Connected to a control unit for volume, audio and video playback, they are sound-isolated to reduce outside noise.
The earphones can be removed using an intuitive, easy-to-use system. So Première Sound can be worn as a simple necklace. Chicissime.
