Swatch tarts up the Mona Lisa
Swatch takes a playful swipe at art and institutional culture with LISA FAN, an irreverent send-up of Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
The provocative Swatch edition gives us an art-wise, ironic portrait that shows the Lady Lisa peering over the top of her sunglasses and flashing a two-fingered “V”for peace greeting. Dark eyes, orange eye shadow and a crimson version of her enigmatic smile are framed by fluent black lines and green hair.
LISA FAN, a Gent Originals, comes in a special sleeve that takes up and expands the pop pattern and colours from the strap and opens a tilted golden frame around the world’s most famous face.
LISA FAN will be sold exclusively in France. Taking humorous provocation one step further, the watch will be available for 15 days following the launch exclusively at the temple of high art itself: the Swatch store in the Carrousel du Louvre.
With this contemporary and compelling make-over, the brand confirms its signature art & design chops while paying sly tribute to the art of provocation. In the end, there’s more to this pop tart than meets the eye, and the playful humour is classic Swatch.
