TAG Heuer with Audi Sport is on the highest step of Le Mans podium
By MyWatch
The German car manufacturer is on the highest step of the podium for the 11th time with the drivers Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer, on the car #1.
Official watch and official eyewear, TAG Heuer has been partnering Audi Sport for 3 years now. And the two brands have been very successful, scoring 3 victories in Le Mans, one of the most prestigious races of the world. After 24 hours of an epic race, Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer, Benoît Tréluyer and Dr Ullrich, Head of Audi Sport, proudly jumped on the podium to take up the trophy, wearing TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1 at their wrist and TAG Heuer Eyewear Squadra sunglasses. The podium was a fully Audi Sport one, with Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish on the second step and with Marco Bonanomi, Oliver Jarvis and Mike Rockenfeller. The Swiss watchmaker colors were also visible during all the week-end on drivers’ overalls and caps, on top management’s overalls and on the 4 cars engaged: 2 hybrid cars, the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, and 2 diesel-powered cars, the Audi R18 Ultra.
And this challenge of the Hybrid proved to be the good choice for Audi Sport, who had been the first ever car manufacturer to win Le Mans with a hybrid engine. More than ever, Audi Sport is being very successful: best winning team, best winning driver, and fastest lap!
“I would like to congratulate our partner Audi Sport for this new victory in Le Mans.”, said Jean-Christophe Babin, President & CEO of TAG Heuer.“Audi Sport is always looking for avant-garde and new performing technologies, just like we are; and that’s one of the reason we are supporting them. Today, we are very proud of this 3rd victory together, the 11th since Audi Sport started racing in Le Mans!”
Audi Sport drivers wrote another page of TAG Heuer’s history in this mythical race. This history started in 1970 with the movie “Le Mans” starred by TAG Heuer ambassador Steve McQueen who was endorsing the first ever TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11. With this victory, their second in a raw, Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer perfectly celebrate the Monaco Heuer Steve McQueen edition launched few weeks ago.
For the race, TAG Heuer provided to the drivers to use TAG Heuer Night Vision frames, which have been tested and worn by Dindo Capello, Benoît Tréluyer and Marc Gené this week-end. Over daylight, Marc has also worn during the race TAG Heuer Panorama eyeglasses under his helmet.
Thanks to this victory, Audi Sport enlarges its leadership in the FIA World Endurance Championship and will be back on track at Silverstone in August to keep fighting for the brand new FIA Word Endurance title. As Global Partner of Audi Sport, TAG Heuer is also present in DTM on Mattias Ekström’s and Mike Rockenfeller’s A5 DTM cars. After 4 races, Mattias is standing 2nd of the Drivers’ ranking and will keep on fighting for the title over the last 6 races of the season!
