The D35 OKALYS-CORUM Full sail into the 2011 season
The championship starts with the Grand Prix Les Ambassadeurs from 6th to 8th of May, between Lausanne and Geneva. The watchmaking brand Corum supports one of the most successful teams for the third year and reinforces its partnership with the OKALYS-CORUM team.
In 2009, Corum entered the Swiss sponsorship by signing a partnership with Decision 35 owned by Nicolas Grange, one of the instigators of the worlds first multihull class. Today Corum reinforces its partnership with the orange coloured catamaran and becomes the unique co-sponsor of the D35 OKALYS-CORUM, along with the Régie Grange.
For Mr Antonio Calce, CEO of Corum, this partnership is very important: “Corum benefits form a true legitimacy in the sailing world and our development strategy is based on a long term basis. Our partnerships share common values with horology; performance and authenticity. Today I decided to reinforce our partnership with the most titled on the circuit by becoming the exclusive co-sponsor of OKALYS-CORUM, alongside with Régie Grange. I believe in this team, which after eight years of sailing together, shows that perseverance and team spirit are the keys to success and of a winning team.”
Confident for this new sailing season, Nicolas Grange, owner and skipper of D35 OKALYSCORUM, has declared: “We are an experienced team, with members of a very high level and our boat has certainly one of the best records of achievements; we know how to sail it and we will not change a winning team! The competition will be hard with the participation of professionals in the other teams. OKALYS-CORUM will be one of the rare teams composed of enthusiasts only, as Loïck Peyron will be participating in only one or two regattas during this season. We aim for the first half of the classification and would of course be happy to reach the podium!”
The championship brings eleven teams together this year, which will be competing during seven regattas. For the first time in championship history, the multihulls will travel to France and compete on the salt waters of Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Antibes in September, offering an increasingly important dimension to the competition.
