Tourbillon exhibition of Breguet is in Paris
After its success in Geneva, Basel, Shanghai, Ningbo and Beverly Hills, the exhibition “Breguet, the innovator. Inventor of the tourbillon” continue its journey in Paris and takes place until November 23th, at the Breguet Boutique Place Vendôme.
A.-L. Breguet’s invention of the tourbillon in 1801 set a new standard for timekeeping. Invented to offset the influence of gravity, this extraordinary system is designed as a mobile cage which houses the entire escapement and which performs a complete rotation, in one, four or six minutes. This kind of rotation inspired A.-L. Breguet, who opted for the term “tourbillon” to refer to its creation, one of the most significant advances in the history of watchmaking.
