Valentine’s Day is just a heartbeat away
It might have escaped you, with everything going on right now, that February 14th is Valentine’s Day. Luckily, the writers at MyWatch are here to remind you that a little gift for your significant other goes a long way.
BLANCPAIN, Ladybird Valentine’s Day 2024
Every year for the last twenty years, Blancpain has imagined a special Valentine’s Day watch, and this year is no exception. The Ladybird Valentine’s Day 2024 is the very expression of love with its bright red alligator leather strap and roman numerals. The case is a chic white gold and measures 34.9mm in diameter.
The subtly embossed roman numerals are a true work of art. They were coloured five different times to achieve the desired hue. A lovely detail that surely caught your eye is the seconds hand, whose counterweight is shaped like an arrow that pierces a delicate red heart. Cupid himself blushes at the sight of such elegance. When looking at the dial, one can only be lovestruck. The white mother-of-pearl flashes iridescent glints at the slightest flick of the wrist and blends perfectly with the diamond-set ring that wraps around the centre and meets with a heart at 6h.
The dial is enveloped with a diamond-set bezel and the crown features a rose-cut diamond. This exceptional timepiece – 99-piece limited edition – boasts 2 carats worth of diamonds. The beating heart of the Ladybird is animated by a Blancpain 1153 calibre, an automatic movement marvel. It is equipped with two silicon balance springs, giving it a 4-day power reserve, and is water resistant up to 30m.

BREGUET, Reine de Naples 8925 – Valentine’s Day Edition
Breguet stokes the fire of desire in the hearts of fine mechanical watch collectors with this 28-piece limited edition watch. Clad in a voluptuous red, the Reine de Naples 8925 – Valentine’s Day Edition white gold and set with 73 diamonds, which shine forth from the bezel and the lug, bring out the oval shape of the case. This oval has been a staple of the Reine de Naples model ever since the first watch of its kind was made by Abraham-Louis Breguet – founder of the Maison – for Caroline Murat, Napoleon Bonapart’s younger sister. Murat was the Queen of Naples in 1812, thus the name ‘Reine de Naples’.
The case band is delicately grooved and bears a cabochon-cut ruby on the crown. The dial is a gorgeous mother-of-pearl white – all natural – and boasts 66 rubies set by hand on the flange by expert setters. The off-centre 12h sub-dial is dotted with tiny red hearts, and the extra space given by the oval shape lets the Arabic numerals grow disproportionately large – a Breguet trademark. Further clues that point to Breguet’s craft are the open-tipped hands, which are red varnished.
The automatic movement carefully balances tradition and modernity, bringing together the high-tech of the magnetism resistant silicium spirals and the Côtes de Genève bevelling. This queen of hearts sports a platinum oscillating mass and a 38-hours power reserve.

CHOPARD, Happy Sport Rose de Caroline
This watch is a tribute to the great mind behind the Happy Sport collection, Caroline Scheufele, who created started this – now iconic – collection in 1993. Caroline Scheufele took inspiration from her parent’s collection Happy Diamonds, whose watches have diamonds that seem to dance freely around the dial, when creating this collection. The main difference is that, here the diamonds are skating elegantly across the dial, between two sapphires crystals. Achieving this was nothing short of a technical prowess for the Maison’s workshops.
This gem of a watch has a 36mm case made of ethical rose gold and is diamond-set. When it comes to the bezel, we can feast our eyes on the delicate shading offered by the rubies and pink sapphires. The indices echo the warm hues of the bezel and the centre of the dial – fine guilloché mother-of-pearl – is surrounded with a ring of small diamonds. The main attraction however is the motion of the seven free diamonds that sway across the dial and magically return to the bottom whenever one needs to check the time. To match the ruby on the crown, the leather strap is a delightful shade of fuchsia. An amazing timepiece brought to life by its automatic movement and equipped with a 42h power reserve.
