World Class Sailors Tackle the Globe
Monday, April 4th, 2011 at 12hrs, 20mins, and 36sec, Virbac-Paprec 3 crosses the finish line of the Barcelona World Race and arrives opposite Hotel W in the Port of Barcelona. Jean-Pierre Dick and Loïck Peyron, Corum ambassador, began their journey on December 31st, 2010. Leading virtually the entire race, the pair sailed from Barcelona to Barcelona in 93 days, 22hrs, 20mins and 36sec. The course passed via the three capes: Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn – as well as the Cook Strait, putting Antarctica to starboard. Both world-class sailors, Jean-Pierre Dick and Loïck Peyron had already won the Transat Jacques Vabre together in 2005.
Loïck Peyron, Corum ambassador, said: « A regatta around the world is not common, it is a great story. It was a fantastic experience and it is a fabulous feeling to finish and finish so well. It is difficult to describe the victory; a magic moment, unique and full of emotion. It is not easy to sail doublehanded and each action on board testified our teamwork. We raced cleanly on a beautiful boat! I really enjoyed wearing my Admiral’s Cup on board. Is it not the first time a Corum watch raced round the world?”
Antonio Calce, Corum CEO said: « Today we celebrate the victory of our ambassador! When Loïck Peyron joined the Corum family in 2009, I was immediately convinced by his sporting as well as his human qualities. After three month at sea, non-stop and without assistance, he shows us once more that perseverance and endurance are the keys to success. As our brand rebuilding process is based on a long-term approach, we share with him the values of determination and consistency. “
