THE IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN INGENIEUR AUTOMATIC 40 IN 18 - CAR AT 5 N GOLD

Schaffhausen/Geneva, 1st April 2025: IWC Schaffhausen presents the Ingenieur Automatic 40 in 18-carat 5N gold at Watches and Wonders Geneva. The luxurious new automatic model combines a case and bracelet crafted entirely from this precious metal with a black “Grid” dial. It has been fitted with a transparent sapphire-glass case back, showcasing the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre with a power reserve of 120 hours. The movement is enhanced with circular Geneva stripes, blued screws and a gold-plated oscillating weight.

Introduced in 2023, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 reflects the bold aesthetic codes of the Ingenieur SL, Reference 1832, which was designed by Gérald Genta in the 1970s. At the same time, the thoroughly re-engineered automatic model meets highest standards regarding ergonomics and finishing. IWC Schaffhausen now complements the collection with a new Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328702) crafted entirely from 18-carat 5N gold. The case and case back ring, bezel, crown protection, crown and bracelet links are all made of gold.

PERFECT ERGONOMICS AND EXCELLENT WEARABILITY

With its 40-millimetre case size, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 ensures perfect ergonomics and wearability. The integrated bracelet attaches to the case via its middle links, offering an excellent fit on the wrist. The bezel is held in place by five functional screws. Another feature of the Ingenieur Automatic 40 is the black dial with a “Grid” structure. It consists of small lines and squares, adding texture and depth to the black dial. The appliques are made of solid 5N gold and individually set by hand. Both the appliques and the gold-plated hands are filled with Super-LumiNova® to ensure superb legibility in all lighting conditions.

GOLD ACCENTUATES THE HIGHLY DETAILED FINISHING

This new Ingenieur Automatic 40 is distinguished by its case and integrated bracelet made of 18-carat 5N gold and features a highly detailed finishing with a combination of satin-finished and polished surfaces. The bezel is satin-finished with its outer edges polished, while the case back ring is polished. Both the H-links and centre links of the integrated bracelet are satin-finished.

SEE-THROUGH SAPPHIRE GLASS CASE BACK

The Ingenieur Automatic 40 in 18-carat 5N features a see-through sapphire glass case back showcasing the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre with a double pawl winding system and a power reserve of 120 hours. The movement is finished with circular Geneva stripes, blued screws and a gold-plated oscillating weight.
