  • The Golden Dozen

IWC Vintage Collection – Jubilee Edition in rose gold and white gold

The “golden age” – comprising of the Jubilee Edition of the Pilot’s Watch, Portuguese, Ingenieur, Aquatimer, Da Vinci and Portofino, each in rose gold and white gold – builds on the success of the first IWC Vintage Collection, with which IWC Schaffhausen celebrated its historic watch icons in stainless steel and platinum in 2008. The most beautiful dozen, in unlimited editions.

Taking inspiration from its traditional timepieces, IWC Schaffhausen revived its watch icons as the IWC Vintage Collection in 2008 – each in stainless steel and in a limited edition platinum version. The first Special Pilot’s Watch from 1936, the original Portuguese from 1939, the Ingenieur from 1955, the Aquatimer from 1967, the first Da Vinci from 1969 and, finally, the first Portofino from 1984 are the founding legends behind the company’s present day watch families. These have also endorsed the worldwide charisma of IWC as a collectors’ brand impressively in the guise of a technically updated IWC Vintage Collection – Jubilee Edition. And the six pairs of watches also aptly prove that the watch de signs, some of which are more than seventy years old, are still as sought after today as ever they were. Only a timeless design language distinguishes true classics.

The IWC Vintage Collection with its six trend-setting Jubilee Edition watches now has a sequel in rose gold with a silvered dial and in white gold with a slate-grey “ardoise” dial. The new case materials and dial finishes of this golden dozen impart a visually different character to the watches – while retaining the identical de signs. The movement technology of the second IWC Vintage Collection also corresponds to that of the steel and platinum variants.

The Portofino is the secret star of the IWC Vintage Collection, a position which it owes with - out any doubt to its genes and its origins: with this watch, IWC celebrates the legendary original model of the elegant, timelessly classic Portofino family, which sprang directly from a pocket watch in1984 and – then as now – features a moonphase display.

The Portofino is powered by the newly developed IWC manufactured 98800 calibre hand-wound movement. The Portofino model of the IWC Vintage Collection has also retained other features of the historic predecessor, including the elegant Roman numerals and the slender form of the hands. The sum of all its parts preserves its character as a distinctive pocket watch-style wristwatch.
