NEW WATCHES 2025
GENEVA, WATCHES AND WONDERS, 1 APRIL 2025
IMAGINATION IN MOVEMENT
Rolex unveils its new watches, conceived by the perpetually active imagination that imbues the entire Manufacture. Its singular approach to watchmaking drives innovation in all areas of the art. From the movements to cases and bracelets, from design to the choice of materials, the latest creations offered by Rolex attest to undiminished creative spirit, constantly elevated standards, and an unswerving desire to push back the limits of excellence. These new watches are born of visionary achievements in watchmaking that pave the way to new horizons.
THE LAND-DWELLER
OPENING NEW HORIZONS
Reinventing the present lays foundations for the future. Rolex begins a new chapter in its history with the Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller. This most contemporary watch represents the culmination of the brand’s expertise today, fruit of more than a century of experience in watchmaking. The Oyster Perpetual Land-Dweller is designed for those well-grounded men and women who build their own destinies, seeing opportunity in every moment.
Fitted with a bracelet that flows seamlessly from the case and is almost indistinguishable from it, this streamlined watch boasts a revolutionary calibre. Featuring an escapement with an innovative architecture and a new state-of-the-art oscillator, the movement was designed to beat at the high frequency of 5 Hz and deliver superlative performance in all circumstances. No fewer than 32 patent applications and patents pertain to the Land-Dweller, of which 18 are exclusive to this watch.
Integrating many horological accomplishments, conceived by the far-thinkers who are mapping out the future of watchmaking, the Land-Dweller is the watch of those who, today, are already designing tomorrow’s world.
INNOVATION IN MOVEMENT
The Land-Dweller is equipped with calibre 7135, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. This avant-garde, self-winding movement includes major innovations for which 16 patent applications have been filed. Although thinner than the majority of Rolex movements, it nonetheless delivers outstanding performance.
Dynapulse, a revolutionary escapement
The most significant innovation in calibre 7135 is the Dynapulse escapement, a ground-breaking alternative to the traditional Swiss lever escapement. In this sequential distribution escapement, for which seven patent applications have been filed, power is transmitted through a rolling motion. A transmission wheel, connected to the barrel, drives two specially designed distribution wheels. These wheels in turn activate an impulse rocker that sustains the oscillations of the balance wheel. Benefiting from an innovative architecture and comprising mainly silicon components, the Dynapulse escapement brings many advantages: its components are very lightweight, it is virtually insensitive to magnetic fields, and it offers substantially greater energy efficiency compared to traditional escapements.
State-of-the-art oscillator
The oscillator of calibre 7135 is resistant to strong magnetic fields, thanks to the materials from which its components are made. It is equipped with a balance wheel in optimized brass and a balance staff whose material and fabrication posed a challenge to develop. This patented balance staff is made of a new high-tech ceramic, exclusive to Rolex, and is sculpted by laser – a first for the brand. The optimized Paraflex shock absorbers, located at each end of the balance staff, enhance the shock resistance of the movement in any position.
Frequency of 5 Hz
Incorporating a Syloxi hairspring in silicon, the oscillator beats at a steady 36,000 beats per hour, or a frequency of 5 Hz, measuring time to a tenth of a second. This rate notably allows the watch to maintain its chronometric precision whatever the wearer’s actions and arm movements. Although higher frequencies demand greater energy, calibre 7135 guarantees a comfortable power reserve of around 66 hours, thanks to the Dynapulse escapement.
In addition to its exceptional performance, the refined aesthetics of calibre 7135 are particularly pleasing, and the gleaming yellow-gold oscillating weight and delicate Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges can be admired through the transparent case back.
NEW PERSPECTIVES
With a resolutely modern touch, the Land-Dweller reinterprets the design of watches with integrated bracelets. Explored first in 1969 with the Rolex Quartz, and again in 1974 on a Datejust with self-winding movement, it is a design where, aesthetically, bracelet and case meld perfectly in a smooth continuous line. This visual harmony has drawn inspiration from the boldest of contemporary aesthetics, sketching out new perspectives.
Featuring a dial with graphic appeal – a timeless, nature-inspired honeycomb motif – the Land-Dweller is offered in two diameters, 36 mm and 40 mm. It is available in a white Rolesor version or in 18 ct Everose gold with an intense white dial, and in 950 platinum with an ice blue dial.
Flat Jubilee bracelet and restyled Oyster case
A bracelet that appears to be one with the case: the effect of continuity between these two elements underlies the concept of this new watch. Entirely redesigned, the particularly fine lines of the Oyster case are drawn out into the silhouette of a new bracelet: the Flat Jubilee. The fluid elegance of the whole is accentuated by the interplay of the finishings – technical satin finish and polishing. The polished chamfering on the top edges of the bracelet and case catches the light, producing a ribbon of reflections.
Honeycomb motif dial
The identity of the Land-Dweller is fully revealed by careful observation of the dial details. Framed by an angled flange, the watch face features a geometric pattern in the form of a honeycomb motif in subtle relief. On the versions with a Chromalight display, the open numerals and index hour markers are luminescent, granting optimal legibility in any situation. The hands are also luminescent and have been specially designed for the watch.
At once sleek, elegant, technical and contemporary, the Land-Dweller is bestowed with a universal personality that makes it the perfect watch for every occasion.
