DESCRIPTION

  • Les Classiques Collection

    Mechanical watches, in all simplicity

In its latest timepieces, the Maurice Lacroix Les Classiques collection concentrates all the elegance of traditional watchmaking and uses contemporary design to emphasize its refinement. As a tribute to the interpretative talent of its designers and to the know-how of the brand, the 2010 vintage takes another look at aesthetics and technology in a timeless, and quite simply watchmaking, spirit.

Five new creations now enrich the series of Les Classiques. They bear the distinguishing marks of a brand that has breathed fresh life into its products over the last few years. Fitted with self-winding mechanical calibers, they testify to the capacity of Maurice Lacroix to evolve without any loss of identity.

The new timepieces endow their mechanical hearts with a face that is formally conventional, yet seems ageless. Their mellow finishes disclose an intense, profound sobriety; their presentation, reduced to its clearest expression, stresses functionalism and legibility and avoids aesthetic overstatement. The hours and minutes succeed each other peacefully, with no extraneous influence to disturb the view of their passage. Only the bezel is permitted a more conspicuous, dynamic profile, showing that these watches reconcile temperament and evident simplicity.

This aesthetic moderation is equalled only by the complexity of their mechanisms. These watchmaking complications have constituted the spearhead of the brand since the 1980s. Apart from function, it is the undisputed mastery and authenticity of Maurice Lacroix that distill their authority into the machinery of these timepieces.

In a 21st century with leanings towards the chaotic, the ephemeral and the effervescent, self-discipline is the exception rather than the rule. The self-discipline taught by Les Classiques 2010 is a philosophy and a determination to get to essentials, to show even better the splendour of time. Designed for people who prefer classicism to lavishness, they are the faithful reflection of the refinement and authenticity of the brand.

    Les Classiques Chronographe Automatique

    Performance above all else

Short measurements of time are soberly displayed in a space that has been reduced to the essentials. The three classical, or even traditional, chronograph counters embody the very spirit of the collection. A spirit that gives pride of place to a sense of elegance imbued with succinct precision.

The chronograph functions are powered by the ML 112 caliber, recognized for its reliability and performance. The precision and care devoted to the self-winding mechanism are echoed on the dial: the time indications give priority to functionality and leave no margin for aesthetic excess.

The stainless steel case, water-resistant to 30 meters and measuring 41 mm in diameter, is available with four different dial versions. Traditional, in silvered or black; very classical, with a silvered dial flanked with gilded hour-markers; or more atypical, in blue. The hours and minutes hands are adorned with Superluminova to optimize reading the time in the dark and are escorted by a direct-drive seconds hand. The 30-minute and 12-hour counters are located at 12 o’clock and 6 o'clock respectively, while the small-seconds and date indications are positioned at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. This ideally balanced display is reminiscent of classical watches and provides a solid base for the collection’s new Chronographe Automatique, available with either a leather strap or metal bracelet.
