The range has been updated with numerous enhancements illustrating the role that excellence plays even in the tiniest details.<\/p>\n<p>Rolex restyles its Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller, recognized for its ease of use and modern design, by introducing aesthetic and technical enhancements.<\/p>\n<p>This watch for world travellers is offered, in particular, in an 18 ct white gold version on an Oysterflex bracelet. It is the first time that a version of the Sky-Dweller combines this precious metal, which is returning to the range, with the black elas- tomer bracelet.<\/p>\n<p>The other two variants unveiled introduce two new dial colours for the model. The white Rolesor version (combining Oystersteel and white gold), fitted on an Oyster bracelet, features a mint green dial, a colour reserved until now for the Datejust. And the variant fashioned in 18 ct Everose gold is endowed with a\u00a0blue-green dial. An evolution of calibre 9001, this new move- ment includes some of the major innovations that Rolex has brought to its movements, including the Chronergy escapement. Calibre 9002 enables the Sky-Dweller to display the date and the month, as well as an additional time zone in 24-hour format, and the hours, minutes and seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Like all Rolex watches, the Sky-Dweller carries the Superlative Chronometer certification, which ensures excellent performance on the wrist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A wealth of expertise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An elegant watch for frequent travellers, the Sky-Dweller displays the time in two time zones simultaneously and has an annual calendar. The reference time is displayed in 24-hour format via an off-centre disc, and local time is read using the conventional centre hands. The annual calendar, named Saros, automatically differen- tiates between 30- and 31-day months. It is operated by a patented mechanism and stands out for its innovative display: the months of the year are shown in 12 apertures around the circumference of the dial, beyond the index hour marker \u2013 the current month being shown in red. The instantaneous date change is linked to the local time.<\/p>\n<p>The Sky-Dweller includes the Ring Command system, an interface between the rotatable bezel, winding crown and move- ment that allows the wearer to select and set the timepiece\u2019s functions one by one, easily, quickly and securely.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rolesor, a marriage of gold and steel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rolesor, the combination of gold and Oystersteel on a Rolex watch, has been a signature feature of the brand since 1933, when the name was registered. It is a meeting of two metals: one, noble and precious, attractive for its lustre and stability; the other, highly resistant to corrosion, assuring strength and reliability. All of these qualities mirror the elegance and performance that come together in a Rolex watch.<\/p>\n<p>On the new Sky-Dweller offered in the white Rolesor version, the bezel is in white gold; the winding crown, middle case, case back and bracelet are in Oystersteel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Oyster case,\u00a0symbol of waterproofness<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A paragon of robustness and elegance, the 42 mm Oyster case of the new-generation Sky-Dweller is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet). The middle case of the versions presented is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel, or 18 ct white or Everose gold. Its case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool that allows only Rolex watchmakers to access the movement. The Twinlock wind- ing crown, fitted with a double waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimal protection for the movement it houses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Perpetual calibre 9002<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new-generation Sky-Dweller is equipped with calibre 9002, unveiled this year. A distillation of tech- nology, this self-winding mechanical movement \u2013 a derivation of calibre 9001, one of the most complex movements designed by Rolex and which had driven the model since its launch in 2012 \u2013 delivers outs- tanding performance in terms of precision, power reserve, convenience and reliability.<\/p>\n<p>Calibre 9002 incorporates the patented Chronergy escapement, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, this escapement is resistant to strong magnetic fields. The movement is fitted with a blue Parachrom hairspring, manufactured by Rolex in a paramagnetic\u00a0alloy. The hairspring offers great stability in the face of temperature variations as well as high resistance to shocks. It is equipped with a Rolex overcoil, ensuring the calibre\u2019s regularity in any position. The oscillator is mounted on the Rolex-designed, patented high- performance Paraflex shock absorbers, increasing the movement\u2019s shock resistance. Developed by Rolex and patented, this innovative bracelet is made up of two flexible, curved metal blades \u2013 one for each of the sections \u2013 overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer.<\/p>\n<p>The new white Rolesor version (combining Oystersteel and white gold), adorned with a mint green dial, as well as the 18 ct Everose gold watch, with a blue-green dial, are fitted on an Oyster bra- celet. Developed at the end of the 1930s, this three-piece link bracelet remains the most universal in the Oyster Perpetual collection and is known for its robustness.<\/p>\n<p>The Oysterflex bracelet and the Oyster bracelet of the Sky-Dweller are both equipped with a folding\u00a0Oysterclasp. The Oysterflex bracelet is furnished with the Rolex Glidelock extension system. Developed by the brand and patented, this inventive mechanism with a rack located under the clasp cover enables fine adjustment of the bracelet length, without the need for tools. The Rolex Glidelock on the Oysterflex bracelet has six notches of approximately 2.5 mm, allowing the length of the bracelet to be adjusted easily up to some 15 mm.
