For the\u00a0<\/span><span>Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42\u00a0<\/span><span>(Ref. 3442),\u00a0<\/span><span>IWC has integrated the iconic complication for the first\u00a0<\/span><span>time with an in-house movement from the 82000-calibre family. Its compact dimensions have made it possible\u00a0<\/span><span>to offer the watch a diameter of just 42 millimetres. The\u00a0<\/span><span>IWC-manufactured 82650 calibre advances the calendar\u00a0<\/span><span>module with a single impulse during the night. The\u00a0<\/span><span>automatic Pellaton winding is equipped with zirconium oxide ceramic components and builds up a power reserve\u00a0<\/span><span>of 60 hours. The movement can be admired through the<\/span><span>transparent sapphire glass back.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><span>The perpetual calendar\u2019s mechanical programme\u00a0<\/span><span>independently recognises the different lengths of the months and adds an extra day at the end of February every four years. In this version of the calendar, the displays for the date, month and day of the week are distributed over three subdials at\u00a0<\/span><span>3 o\u2019clock, 6 o\u2019clock and 9 o\u2019clock. The perpetual moon\u00a0<\/span><span>phase display was integrated into the month display and deviates from the actual orbit of the moon by only one day after 577.5 years.
