The Tank Française watch
Launched in 1996, this watch is part of the Tank series. The bracelet is integrated into its curved case and it looks more like a jewel designed with no break in the lines, volume or material, between the watch and the bracelet. A Tank watch, right to the tip of its two vertical sidepieces although, this time, Cartier rounds the corners, which are delicately bevelled. Concave sidepieces, similar to brackets that soften the Art Deco-inspired geometry. It is the shape of a new Tank watch, with indented edges on the bracelet that revisit the caterpillar tracks of the mythical war vehicle after which it was named. It is indeed well named and deserves to be called Française”, setting it apart and reminding us that in Paris all is a matter of style and aesthetics.
